Yoga Is The Ultimate Practice Of Love
Yoga is so many different things. To me, it’s a way of life, a lifestyle. Yoga is not about being flexible or an exercise program. Yoga is about showing up on your mat daily with no expectations of how it should go and feel. It’s about NOT believing the labels like “too injured” or “too old” and finding a new way to be the best version of yourself. It’s about discovering that those crazy thoughts in your head about why you “can’t” or “shouldn’t” is not true. It’s about slowing down, looking inwards and seeking something greater than yourself.
When I first started practice yoga a few years ago, my focus was mainly on the physical aspect rather then the spiritual. I started to notice the benefits after just a couple of classes; I felt much happier, present, relaxed and open. And as I continued to practice regularly, I started to feel my body getting stronger, more flexible and overall felt more self-confident and stronger in my self.
After a yoga class I always find my state of mind has shifted. Some things have fallen into place, some things are just not there anymore, or I have a completely different perspective on stuff. Overall I’m in a much quieter place. As something that started out as a physical practice has turned into a spiritual journey and a desire to explore my inner world.
So, a specific yoga pose is not the goal or becoming flexible. The goal with yoga is to create space where you were once stuck. To unveil the layers of protection you’ve build around your heart. To appreciate your body and become aware of the mind and the noise it creates. To make peace with who you are. The goal is to love yourself.
Come to your yoga mat to feel - not to accomplish. Shift your focus and your heart will grow. ♡
