Before starting doing yoga, I assumed it was boring and not a real workout where you barely worked up a sweat. 

After giving it a chance, I quickly realized that it was not boring and it left me dripping in sweat and it also challenged my mind. Throughout my one year long yoga journey, I have discovered the many benefits of yoga on the body, mind and soul. Yoga is so much more than just the asanas (physical practice), it's a way of life. Yoga is in the way we think, move, breath, eat, speak, act and live. Below is a list of some of the benefits I have experienced in my yoga practice.

Yoga builds strength (mental and physical)
Many of the poses require strength, both of the body and the mind. The longer I have practice yoga, I have noticed that I'm able to hold poses for longer periods, and it becomes more comfortable mentally.

Yoga helps protect your spine
Our spines are remarkable things and many doesn't use it's fully potential in our every day lives. The spine are designed to bend in all kinds of directions. By moving our spine we strengthen the muscles that protect it and keeping it free from stiffness, soreness and diseases.

Yoga calms the mind
Before knowing much about yoga, I didn't think about the benefits of calming the mind. You're maybe unaware that you're challenging, strengthening and disciplining the mind when doing yoga poses. It's in the every day life I have starting to feel a shift in how I react, think and behave in life challenges. 

Yoga heals the soul
Walking out of a good yoga class can feel like walking out of a spa treatment. Something have shifted on the inside and joy, positivity and love is flowing in every cell of your being. This vibrate energy will you spread to your surroundings!

Yoga keeps you balanced
By practicing yoga, you will improve the balance of the body and mind and re-connect to yourself and your inner truth. 

Malasana
Great position to do every day, especially if you have an office job. Stretches out ankles, groins and back. 

Utthita Trikonasana
Stimulates the internal organs of the stomach and can improve digestion. Stretches and strengthens hips, groin, hamstrings, shoulders, thighs, knees and ankles. This position can relieve menopausal symptom, back pain and is therapeutic for anxiety, flat feet, infertility, neck pain, osteoporosis and sciatica.
